Lauren Simpson was elected as Mayor of Arvada in the 2023 after serving from 2019 to 2023 as the District 2 Councilmember. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Baylor University and a master’s degree in International Relations from Catholic University. She began her career with internships at the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee and the United Nations, before growing within institutions such as the Pew Charitable Trusts and Ogilvy Worldwide. Prior to her election as Mayor, she served eight years as a Senior Foreign Policy and Diplomatic Officer with the Consulate General of Canada in Denver, helping lead public affairs for the Government of Canada in the U.S. Mountain West Region. She is married to Steven, a Colorado native, and they are parents to daughter Tabitha, dog Zoe, and cats, Amber and Marble.
