  • About

The Arvada Community Food Bank’s (ACFB) hunger relief efforts began in 1982 as an effort to consolidate a number of small panties at five local churches. With the support of local governments, members of the business community and local volunteers, ACFB was able to collect, store and distribute a greater volume of food and greater accessibility through expanded hours of operation. ACFB is now in its 5th location with each move enabling the organization to grow our capacity and serve community members’ needs at higher levels. ACFB is a model food pantry that has provided other food banks throughout the region the blueprint for programs like Backpack and Client Choice, where clients get to pick the foods they want.

In 2013, ACFB began a new program, Bridges to Opportunity (B20) focused on assisting clients help change their own situation through a variety of offerings including job-readiness, GED tutoring, assistance with applications for other public benefits, and qualification for permanent housing for the homeless. We have helped a number of clients find full-time employment, advancement in their current jobs, and attain their GED.
